The Presidential Museum is located in the Belém Palace and offers visitors information on the office of President, its history and its office holders and in doing so aims to bring the President and people closer together. The museum was opened in 2004 and uses extensive and innovative technical means to present the information. There are portraits of each of the seventeen Presidents to date, on which important related facts are automatically displayed as visitors approach. The history of the national flag and anthem are covered and in another section, gifts from overseas leaders are displayed.
