Praia Grande is situated in the heart of the RIver Arade estuary, at the foot of the town of Ferragudo. The beach is framed by a line of cliffs that have been greatly eroded by the elements. A raised wooden footpath runs along part of the beach, next to which are a variety of tourist facilities including a children’s playground, open air cafés and restaurants. It is a very popular beach, with easy access via a footpath from the town of Ferragudo. There is a small parking area near to Praia Grande, which is supervised during the bathing season.
