The beach owes its name to the Inatel tourist complex overlooking the sea at the eastern end of the sand. To the west is the quay of Praia dos Pescadores, with the town laid out like an amphitheatre facing the sea. There are some interesting rock formations that appear in the sand itself. This proximity to the town, together with the variety of facilities available, means that the beach can get very crowded. There is parking near the beach, which is supervised during the bathing season. Restaurants, bars and umbrella hire are easily accessed.
