The beach is situated in the middle of the Ilha de Tavira. Visitors can reach the beach on foot over a narrow footbridge, or by taking one of the small tourist trains from Pedras D´el Rei. The tourist facilities at the beach have been adapted from old tuna fishing equipment. In order to help preserve the vegetation, visitors should cross over the sand dunes using the raised wooden footpaths provided. Care is recommended as the currents close to the bar of the estuary can be very strong. The beach has restaurants and toilets, facilities for disabled, and is supervised during the bathing season.
