Praia do Almoxarife

The Praia do Almoxarife is a broad stretch of sand. It is a sheltered beach that has fairly consistent surf and so is an attraction for surfers. Autumn and winter are the optimum times of year for waves. The beach tends to receive a mix of groundswells and the ideal swell angle is from the north northwest. The waves break both left and right and submerged rocks can be a hazard. It very rarely gets crowded, although there are good support facilities. The average seawater temperature in summer is 21º C.
