Although only inaugurated in 1997, Praia D’El Rey Golf Course, about 20 km northwest of Óbidos, is already regarded as one of Portugal’s top courses. Designed by Cabell B. Robinson, this is an 18 hole 6,467 metre course with a par of 72. The designer commented that, whereas normally the architect has to create a landscape, here all he had to do was to protect it. Facilities include a driving range, putting green, chipping area and pro shop. Buggies, trolleys (both hand and electric) and clubs can be hired. On completion you can enjoy the restaurant, bar, swimming pool and beach.
