The Praia de Benagil is at the bottom of a deep valley and next to the fishing harbour of Benagil. The village that gave its name to the beach is on the cliff top. The fishing boats, which also take visitors on trips to see the caves and isolated beaches of this region, are found at the entrance to the beach, which stretches eastwards as far as the ochre-coloured cliffs. There is a tiny parking area near the beach, which has basic support facilities and restaurants, but it is unsupervised for bathing purposes.
