To the east of Praia do Zavial is the small and secluded beach of Praia das Furnas, which owes its name to the shape of the cliff, greatly eroded by the elements and where furnas have developed (undercut slopes dug out of the base of the cliff to form grottoes). The coastal scrubland reaches right down to the sand, where a small stream finds an outlet. This is a very peaceful beach. Access is via a track from the village of Figueira about two kilometres away. There is parking but the beach has no basic support facilities or supervision.
