Praia da Mareta is the closest beach to the town and therefore tends to be busier than the other beaches in Sagres. It boasts a lovely sandy bay and is sheltered from the westerly winds by the beautifully coloured Ponta de Sagres cliffs. There are three restaurants on the beach. Although you can drive down close to the beach, disabled access may still be difficult because there are some steps even at the lowest point. The average summer seawater temperature is 19-21 ºC and the beach is suitable for surfing, body boarding and diving. It is possible to hire boats.
