The beach is next to a paved avenue bordered by large palm-trees, running along the seafront, offering visitors a variety of outdoor cafés and restaurants. Standing out against a landscape of whitened cliffs is a notable rock formation called Rocha Negra (black rock), a volcanic seam originating in the Serra de Monchique and reaching all the way to the coast. The bay is particularly suited to water sports: windsurfing, kite surfing, sailing and diving. Parking is available, there are plenty of restaurants, facilities for disabled and the beach is supervised during the bathing season.
