The beach is reached by a long set of gently descending steps paved in the Portuguese style. The bay is not a large one, but is packed with sheltered nooks and crannies. The shapes that have been formed by of the rocks are quite extraordinary. An isolated rock formation, with a shape reminiscent of an enormous ship, can be seen to the east. Providing an ideal habitat for seabirds, these rocks are important for nature conservation. There is a small parking area roughly 200 kilometres from the beach, which has a restaurant and toilets, umbrella hire and is supervised during the bathing season.
