Close to the village of Carrapateira, the stunning beach of Bordeira extends over a broad stretch of sand that becomes one of the largest on the Algarve coast during low tide. A small river reaches the sea here and forms a lagoon that is perfect for parents looking for a safe swimming area for children. Although somewhat off the beaten track for sunbathers, Bordeira is highly regarded by divers, surfers and body boarders. The average summer seawater temperature is17-18 ºC and the beach has facilities for the disabled, with convenient parking and a restaurant nearby.
