Southwest of Setubal, and situated in the Serra da Arrábida Natural Park, is the beautiful fine white sand beach of Portinho da Arrábida, rated one of the best in Portugal. In a sheltered cove, with green hills as a background and crystal clear water, it is popular with divers who enjoy the diverse marine life. Fishing is forbidden as this is a protected area. The beach is supervised in season when the average seawater temperature is 17 ºC. Umbrellas, small craft and games can be hired and there are parking, restaurant and bar facilities.
