The Portalegre Municipal Museum is located in the 16th century Diocese Seminary built by Brother Amador Arrais. Restructured in 1765 by Bishop João de Azevedo, his coat of arms is on the façade. Religious pieces include the 15th century gothic "Piety", 18th century Italian high-reliefs in ivory, an Indo-Portuguese Our Lady of Conception from the 17th century, approximately 800 depictions of Saint Anthony from the 15th century onwards and the 16th century picture of Our Lady of Patience. Private donations include paintings by Abel Santos and a collection of snuff boxes and Chinese porcelain donated by José de Andrade Sequeira. Guided tours are available.
