The Pópulo beach is a stretch of sand on a very pretty bay, surrounded by verdant countryside. There is a grove of pine trees on the slope of one of the sand dunes. This beach is very popular with surfers because it is fairly exposed and has reasonably consistent surf and can work at any time of the year. The offshore winds blow from the north and the ideal swell direction is from the southwest. In the vicinity, the Chapel of Madonna del Popolo (17th century) is part of an old noble manor-house.
