Situated on the Lido-Praia Formosa promenade and near the Funchal Naval Club, the recently opened Ponta Gorda bathing complex has a most attractive location. It has two swimming pools, a pool for children and also sea access for ocean bathing. Other facilities include a kindergarten, changing rooms, a first aid centre, surveillance service, and sports practice areas. Umbrellas and sun beds can be hired and there are bars, cafes, and restaurants. A walk along the promenade from the Lido to Praia Formosa is most rewarding.
