The road along the north coast of Flores ends at the most northern village of the island, which is the sleepy and picturesque Ponta Delgada. The road winds down to it in many serpentine twists and turns. As pretty as Ponta Delgada is, it is not the village that attracts visitors to this area, but the beautiful walks along the steep coasts, which offer fascinating panoramic views over the Atlantic and of the neighbouring island of Corvo, which sometimes appears to be so close you could throw a stone to it.
