Located about 26 km northwest of Alcobaça, between Praia da Pedra do Ouro to the north and Praia da Paredes de Vitória to the south, Polvoeira Beach is in a beautiful bay surrounded by tree covered cliffs. The sea is relatively calm and is safe for swimming, but is also suitable for surfing and body boarding. There are lifeguards on duty in season, when the average seawater temperature is 16-18 ºC. Parking is available and there are café and restaurant facilities. The octopuses that live on the rocky seabed off the northern end of the beach are an interesting feature.
