Podentes is a village located about 7 km north of Penela and the exterior of its parish church, as seen today, is the result of 19th century restoration work. The original Igreja Matriz dates from 1272 but was subject to many changes. The church has a single aisle and a 19th century high altar and the real interest lies in two side chapels. That on the left is 17th century and dedicated to the Holy Sacrament; whilst that on the right has a 16th century stone dome and is dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary.
