On the cone of Pico Mountain, at an altitude of about 4,925 feet (1500 m), there is a series of secondary craters called Furnas where people usually spend the night when they climb the height. In the channel separating the islands of Pico and Faial there is an enormous underwater crater with a diameter of about 4 km. The volcanic cone of Pico presents an attractive challenge for all those who enjoy climbing mountains and experiencing the marvellous spectacle of the sunrise.
