Built on the site of an ancient monastery after which it is named, the Penha Longa Mosteiro Golf Course is 6 km southwest of Sintra and provides a less undulating alternative to the adjacent Atlântico course. Also designed by Robert Trent Jones II, this 9 hole par 35 course measures 2,588 metres. It has magnificent views of the Penha Longa Palace and its lakes add to its natural beauty. Facilities include a driving range, putting green, pitching area with bunker and pro shop. Clubs, trolleys and buggies can be hired and there is a restaurant and bar.
