About 31 kms northwest of Leiria is the extensive Pedrogão beach, which stretches to Fausto beach on the north and Foz do Rio Lis beach on the south; it lies between the pine forest and the sea. The infrastructure is well developed and the beach is suitable for all manner of sports including surfing, windsurfing, body boarding, handball and beach football. There are lifeguards in season, facilities for the disabled and the average summer seawater temperature is 16 ºC. Parking is available and there are bars and restaurants. Umbrellas can be hired.
