In the Cabouco Velho Forest Park, at an altitude of 500 metres, visitors are offered the chance to enjoy nature to the full. The Parque Florestal do Cabouco Velho has footpaths, a picnic area, a threshing-floor and a children’s playground. For those interested in plants, there is a huge diversity including cryptomerias, pine trees, cypresses and sequoias. Special attention should be paid to the endemic species, such as the lily of the valley tree, dogwood, Azores juniper and the pau-branco (wood-white). This is a great place to enrich your botanical knowledge.
