Parque da Mina is a renovated old farm, just outside Caldas de Monchique, with an 18th century furnished house, which has now been converted into a theme park. The highlights include a disused ore mine, a Medronho distillery (a local brew made from distilled medronho berries of the Albutus/Strawberry Tree and originally created in back room stills) and wood coal production. Caldas de Monchique is a spa town in the Monchique Mountains. It has been famous for its spa waters, which reputedly have healing properties, since Roman times.
