Nossa Senhora das Neves (Our Lady of the Snow) was founded in 1420 by Frei Fernandes Rodrigues de Sequeira, the master of the Military Order of Avis, and was rebuilt in the 16th century. On the church’s façade is a Renaissance doorway made out of the locally quarried marble. The bell-tower was built after the destruction caused by the earthquake in 1755. The interior, consisting of a central nave and two aisles, is embellished with marble. Marble is also used for the supporting columns and the side altars. The azulejos covering the walls date from 1650.
