The Gothic Santa Maria do Castelo Church, is also simply known as Matriz da Lourinhã (Parish Church) and dates from the second half of the 14th century. It was built in two phases and was declared a National Monument in 1922. The central nave is divided from the side aisles by eight superb ogive arches and monolithic columns with capitals decorated with individual vegetal motifs. The octagonal baptismal font is another feature, its sides having carvings of two crosses in a circle and a five pointed star. The façade has a fine rose window above the portico.
