Paredes de Vitória is approximately 24 km northwest of Alcobaça. The beach is separated on the north from the adjoining Polvoeira Beach by a rock promontory, moulded by the sea and known as the ‘castle’. The slopes around are acknowledged as excellent sites for hang gliding and the large open sands experience strong waves, ideal for surfing. There are lifeguards in season, facilities for the disabled and parking; the average summer seawater temperature is 16-18 ºC. Bathers tend to congregate in the central area, which has restaurant and bar facilities and a children’s park. The sea is suitable for body surfing.
