The Palace of Sant’Ana, a 19th century construction surrounded by beautiful gardens, is the residence of the President of the Regional Government of the Azores. Its rooms have paintings commemorating the visit of the king D. Carlos in 1901 and are ornamented with 18th and 19th century’s furniture. The tiles that decorate the living rooms are from São Miguel’s churches. There are also magnificent tiles by the artist Jorge Colaço. It is located in a very attractive private park, the Parque José do Canto. This is one of the largest botanical gardens on the island and should not be missed!
