Paderne is located in a scenic position on a gentle hill and its picturesque old white houses stand out from the surrounding countryside. One of these houses has an interesting decorated chimney dating from the 18th century. The church in Paderne is Manueline in style and dates from the 16th century, although it has been altered by successive periods of reconstruction. The interior has three naves and the arch of the main chapel is decorated with human figures. There are interesting monogrammed columns at the sides. The high altar has an ornate carved 18th century retable.
