The church of São Salvador de Paderne is located about 5 km southwest of Melgaço. It dates from the 13th century, as can be seen from the inscription on the left of the main façade. It was part of a former Augustinian monastery and was modified in Baroque style in the 18th century; however there are still features of the original. Internally of interest are the painted ceilings and the Baroque carving to the altar. The recessed entrance on the northern façade originally had a porch in front, which was used for funerals.
