Ovar is known for its multi-coloured tiles which cover many houses, as well as the 17th century twin towered Parish church of St Christopher in the Avenida do Bom Reitor. The Cavalry chapel is also worth visiting, as is the delightful Chafariz de Neptuno (Neptune’s Fountain), crowned with a figure of the god of the sea. Other interesting places include the Carnival Monument, the Júlio Dinis Fountain and the museum named after him. Whilst in Ovar try the highly rated golden sponge cake pão-de-ló.
