The village of Soutelo is situated about 4 km northwest of Chave; close by and signposted is the Outeiro Machado Boulder which is believed to be Celtic in origin. This granite boulder, approximately 50 metres long, is covered in hieroglyphs and other strange symbols whose meanings are not yet known. There are gold mining trenches in the area and further boulders with axe and other symbols. The village of Vidago is well known for its woollen blankets and its five key coat of arms, which can be seen at the Casa do Paço.
