The original hermitage, dedicated to Our Lady of Orada, was built in the 15th century, but this building dates from the 18th century. It is used by local fishermen who leave offerings asking for divine intervention. Built in a direct line with the Holy Virgin church in Melgaço, northern Portugal, the two churches mark the extremities over the greatest length of Portugal. The 15th century statue of the patron saint is kept in the Parish Church. Every year, on August 15, the local fishermen pay homage to Our Lady in a procession that returns the statue to its church of origin.
