The hermitage of Our Lady of Grace Sanctuary (Santuário de Nossa Senhora da Graça) is an important Carmelite sanctuary of Baroque style dating from the 18th century. It is situated in a pleasant place outside Aldeia de Santo André, for the inhabitants of Santiago do Cacém and of Santo André. Although the façade is pretty, with whitewashed walls and blue trim, it is the interior, with azulejo wall panels, that is particularly attractive. The church’s treasures include a valuable statue of Nossa Senhora da Graça. A pilgrimage is held on the last Sunday in May.
