The Nossa Senhora de Fátima was the first Catholic Church to be built in Lisbon after the proclamation of the Republic in 1910. Inaugurated in 1938, it is the Valmor prize winning, Modernist-style, work of the architect Porfírio Pardal Monteiro. Leading Portuguese artists contributed to the interior, stained glass windows and mosaics by Almada Negreiros, mural paintings by Lino António and Henrique Freitas, sculptures by Leopoldo de Almeida, Anjos Teixeira and Francisco Franco, who was also responsible for the Apostles statues on the façade. Do look inside the font and notice the reflective tiles of the facade cross.
