Located about 7 km southwest of Barcelos, it is believed that this Carmelite sanctuary was founded by Egas Moniz. The façade and tower date from the 18th century but other elements of the church are Romanesque. The jasper altar was brought back from Ceuta in 1415 by Afonso, 8th Count of Barcelos and 1st Duke of Bragança. Only three columns remain and the altar table was substituted by one of granite. There is an 18th century wooden statue of Our Lady over the main altar. The annual pilgrimage is held on the second Sunday in August.
