Located just below the Botanical Garden, the Orchid Garden (Jardim Orquídea) has more than 50,000 plants and has been run by four generations of the Pregetter family, who were originally from Austria. The plants, in enormous variety, are displayed in as natural surroundings as possible and you can see both the original and hybrid forms. A miniature forest has been created combining plants, birds and fish and you will find blossoming plants at all times of the year. Of particular interest to orchid growers is the fact that you can buy guaranteed baby orchids in bottle (in vitro).
