The St Sebastian chapel oratory was the first of a series built by the Barefooted Augustinian Order from the Grilos Convent. These were located on streets on the route of the Senhor dos Passos procession, which was organised by the friars of the order until 1832. Following the suppression of religious orders in 1834, the processions were discontinued and only this oratory and one other remain. This is now in Rua Nova da Alfândega, opposite S. Nicolau’s Church, having been transferred there from the Rua de S. Francisco. The convent’s coat of arms is displayed on the façade.
