Known locally as Antigos Paços do Concelho, it is situated between the Praça de Santiago and the Praça da Oliveira. The building was started at the end of the 14th century during the reign of King João I, but was completely remodelled in the 17th century by the architect João Lopes de Amorim. Today it houses the Museum of Primitive Art exhibiting more than 300 works of national and international modern artists in the Naïve style.
