Located approximately 12 km north of Sintra, on the outskirts of the village of Odrinhas, is a fine Archaeology Museum. Inaugurated in 1955, its collection dates back to the 16th century, when a group of humanist scholars began to classify their collection of artefacts. Its epigraphs now cover two millennia and are considered the most complete and important in Portugal. The ruins of the Roman villa of Miguel de Odrinhas and the megalithic sanctuary of Monte da Barreira are part of the complex, which has 3,000 square metres of covered area out of a total of 15,000 square metres.
