The Sanctuary of Nosso Senhor dos Aflitos is dedicated to the cult of the Humanity of Jesus of the Afflicted. Built on the site of a hermitage that had been in existence prior to 1720, the current sanctuary was built in 1815. The attractive interior includes offerings made by the faithful in thanks for intersession in times of trouble. Pilgrimages for payment of promises are held throughout the year, complemented by a major annual festivity that also involves a pilgrimage and popular celebrations.
