The little town of Nisa, some 25 kilometres northwest of Castelo de Vide, is worth visiting to view its 13th century ruined castle. The remains of the castle walls, with two fine 14th century towers are the town’s main attraction, but it also has a fine Baroque parish church. Nearby is the megalithic monument, the Anta de São Gens and an attractive bridge, the Ponte de Figueiró. There are several dams in the countryside surrounding the town. This is an area of great natural beauty.
