The Galeria Dolménica e Anta na Herdade da Negrita is composed of a dolmen (burial chamber) gallery and cromlech in the Herdade da Negrita estate. A dolmen is a megalithic chambered tomb, with a large flat stone laid on upright ones. This extensive megalithic gallery has parts of the roof covering missing, but is otherwise in amazing condition. Megalithic monuments such as this date back several thousand years. Portugal is fortunate in having many of these relics of former times, and this region of the Alentejo is particularly rich.
