In close proximity in the Avenida dos Aliados are two statues by sculptor Henrique Moreira (1890-1979), a 1929 work Naked Girl – Youth and from 1931 Boys – Abundance. The earlier work depicts a naked girl, arms resting on a double faced plinth, whilst four grotesque faces discharge water into the reservoir. The 1931 statue, which is in gilt bronze, features three children also on a plinth, lifting a cup of flowers and fruits representing abundance. Henrique Moreira was born in the Porto district of Vila Nova de Gaia and worked and taught in the city.
