The museum dedicated to Saint Anthony is housed in what was once the Chapel of Saint António de Aljezur. The chapel was built in the 17th century and served as a place of worship, but eventually fell into disuse. In 1995 the Aljezur City Council acquired and restored the building, converting it into a museum. It was inaugurated in 1998 and is devoted to the life of Saint Anthony. Within the various rooms are statues, pictures, books, currencies and other objects related to the saint.
