Museu de Arte Sacra Monsenhor Manuel Francisco Pardal, a religious thematic museum, is housed in the 18th century Hospital of Mercy building, next to the church (Igreja da Misericórdia) in Aljezur. Inaugurated in 2000, the museum features restored sections of the old church, demolished in the great earthquake of 1755. The museum is in seven sections, each of which is designated for a distinct liturgical craft of the church, and houses a wide range of religious and historical artefacts.
