The archaeological museum in Sines (Museu Arqueológico de Sines) has developed, as its main function, the charting of human occupation of the Sines region since the Palaeolithic era. The exhibits are many and varied and cover all the important eras through to the recent history of Sines. The museum has as some of its main attractions the "Treasure of Gaio”, dating from 7th century BC, and the engraved stones of the Visigothic Basilica, which also dates from the same century.
