Located about 10km north of Figueira da Foz and just beyond Mondego Cape, is the beautiful, unspoilt beach of Murtinheira, where the waves create some of the best conditions in the region for surfing and body boarding. This large beach is flanked by dunes and has the Serra da Boa Viagem mountain range as a backdrop. There is also a forest park providing great walks and views from the Miradouro da Vela. Lifeguards are on duty during the season and the average seawater temperature in summer is 16 ºC. There are bars and restaurants and parking is available.
