The Museu Municipal is housed in the 18th century mansion of the Barbosas Macéis and has a significant collection of ceramics, furniture, paintings and archaeological finds from the area. The ceramics are of particular interest as the chapel has tiles signed by the artist Policarpo de Oliveira Bernardes and one of the upper rooms has tiled walls with allegorical depictions of the continents. An unusual item is a 17th century Indo-Portuguese cabinet inlaid with ivory and pieces of glazed earthenware china.
