The Municipal Museum in Tavira is housed in the Palácio da Galeria, a palace dating back to the 16th century. It underwent a transformation in the middle of the 18th century and its present state dates back to that time. The baroque stonemasonry of the portal and the upper floor windows make it one of the most remarkable civil buildings in Tavira. It is the city’s focal point for cultural events and has two auditoriums, exhibition rooms, the Municipal Museum and a cultural centre.
